As a logistics employee, you often have situations where you cannot deliver the full quantity of a Sales Order because not all items are in stock. For example, a customer orders 3 pieces, but you can only ship 1.
Without additional information, the customer may think the remaining quantity was forgotten. You want to clearly show on the shipment document that part of the order is still open and will be delivered later.
You want to print this information directly on the shipment document.
Let’s take a look at how you can activate this feature!
Open Timber Reports.
Select the Sales – Shipment report from the list.
Click Edit in the top menu to access the Timber Report Header Setup.
Activate Show Backorder Information in the General FastTab so that backorders are included on the shipment document.
Again in the General FastTab, activate Print Outstanding Lines to ensure that open lines from the Sales Order are also printed.
Open an existing Posted Sales Shipment where a partial delivery has already been made.
Check the report by clicking Print under Home in the top menu and opening the downloaded document. You now see the delivered quantity and an additional backorder column for the remaining quantity.
By showing backorder information on the sales shipment, your customer directly sees what has been delivered and what is still open. This helps the customer to immediately understand that the remaining quantity will follow later, saving time for both you and them.
