As a salesperson, you often create a quote (or blanket order) on one day, but the customer doesn’t actually confirm and place the order until much later.
In standard Business Central behavior, the order date is initially set when the quote is created (typically “today” or your current work date), and when you later convert that quote into a sales order, the order date remains the original, older date instead of reflecting when the order was actually placed.
This can lead to sales orders showing “very old” order dates, even though the order is operationally new, which in turn can make day-to-day work less intuitive, especially when lists of documents are sorted by order date and newly created orders end up far down the list simply because the quote was created weeks earlier.
Let’s see how we can change this behaviour.
Open Wood Setup (Sales).
With this setting enabled, Business Central updates the Sales Order’s Order Date to the current Workdate at the moment you convert the Sales Quote into a Sales Order, so the resulting Sales Order better matches the timing of the customer’s real commitment.
Now, your Sales Orders will always have the correct Order Date. This means your prices and delivery schedules are always up to date, making your sales process smoother and more reliable for you and your customers.
