As a logistics manager, you want to ensure that orders are not released after the daily order deadline. If sales orders with same-day delivery are released too late, the warehouse may no longer be able to pack and ship them on time. This creates unnecessary pressure for the warehouse team and can lead to customer dissatisfaction because the promised delivery date cannot be met.
Let’s see how this could be prevented!
Open Wood Setup.
In the Notifications FastTab, activate the Check Deadline checkbox.
Open the Locations list.
Select the Location for which you want to set up a delivery deadline and then click Manage > Edit in the top menu.
On the Location Card click Related > Location > Location Order Deadlines in the top menu.
Click + New to create a new line.
In the Territory Code field, select the one for which the deadline will be valid.
Enter e.g. 14:00:00 for Order Deadline. This means that for that delivery Territory shipped from that Location Sales Orders must be released before 2:00 PM.
Repeat step 6 to 8 for each Territory for which you would like to setup a deadline.
Let’s test the setup and create a new Sales Order for the Location Code and Territory, which you set up.
Enter t, for today, in Requested Delivery Date in the General FastTab.
Enter at least one Item line with a Quantity.
Try to Release the Sales Order after 2:00 PM. You will receive a notification that this is not possible as the acceptance deadline has already been exceeded.
After setting up the deadline check, a sales order processor will get a message when an order exceeds the defined order deadline. This helps sales and logistics teams react earlier and keep shipment planning reliable.
