Sometimes customers place orders that fall below your minimum quantity. While you could reject these orders, doing so may appear unfriendly and can negatively affect customer satisfaction. To avoid this, management has decided to introduce a “small order surcharge”. Since you are already working with automated freight charges, you want the system to apply a similar logic for small orders as well.
Let’s check how to add a surcharge for small quantity orders!
Open Additional Charges.
Choose a code you have already created, e.g. Freight % and open Allocations in the top menu.
Add an additional line including the Resource No., which you expect to be used in the Sales Order for the small order surcharge.
Select Resource Sales Price (Small Amounts) in Calculation Type.
In Max. Amount (LCY), enter the maximum order value that should trigger the surcharge (e.g., 1000). This ensures that the surcharge is applied whenever the total order value falls below the defined amount.
Now, to test the setup, create a Sales Order. Select the Shipment Method Code, to which you assigned the small order surcharge. Make sure all other mandatory fields in the General FastTab are also filled.
Enter at least one Item line with a Quantity.
After your Sales Order is created, Release it and verify that the Resource line was added, if the total value is below 1000.
After setting up the small order surcharge, every time a customer places an order below your minimum quantity, the surcharge will automatically be added to the invoice. This saves you time and ensures you don’t lose money on small orders.
